The Betrayal

Staying too long can be a form of self-betrayal.

We are often told to dare to be different in order to make a difference. To stand firm, to hold our ground, and to stay long enough for change to happen.

But sometimes being different is not a call to remain. It is a signal that alignment has been lost, and that staying may no longer be an act of courage.

Being different does not mean it is your responsibility to carry change alone. Growth is not always about endurance or waiting for others to catch up. In some spaces, staying too long can quietly stunt your growth and soften your potential, until difference turns into compliance, or worse, into sameness.

There is wisdom in recognising when your season has ended. Making a difference does not always require staying in the same place. Sometimes it requires movement. When we refuse to move, stagnation sets in, even when our intentions are good.

Daring to be different also means daring to leave when growth demands it, trusting that making a difference can begin again elsewhere.
