Chair-ished Moment

A group of us set out on a simple mission: to find the perfect reclining chair for the living room. We visited a couple of stores, testing out different options along the way. Yet somehow, the heart kept returning to the very first store we stepped into. The moment we tried that chair, we knew—it was the one. And we were all in agreement. Comfort, support, and that little sense of “this is it.”
But then came the first obstacle: There was no new stock available. If we wanted to order a new one, it would take more than 30 weeks to ship it in. Imagine that—waiting over half a year for a chair!
Still, our hearts was set on it. So we asked the sales assistant if it might be possible to purchase the display piece instead. The sales assistant needed to check with her manager, who unfortunately wasn’t in the store at the time. So we left our contact details and stepped out for lunch while waiting for an answer.
As we sat there, we realised there hadn’t been any calls or messages. So we decided to walk back to the store just to check in.
And that’s when the good news arrived. The manager had approved the request, and we were allowed to purchase the display chair. The sales assistant had even sent an email earlier, but of course, we hadn’t seen it while we were out. What a pleasant surprise!
Just as we thought everything was settled, the second obstacle appeared—payment. The card machine flashed error messages about limits and bank restrictions. Typical banking hurdles.
Not wanting to give up, we asked if we could step out for a moment to sort things out at the bank just a couple of streets away.
Then came a golden moment of kindness.
The sales assistant told us not to worry about rushing. She kindly reassured us that they would hold the chair for us until we returned.
Such empathy, patience, and flexibility—ensuring that we could still bring home the chair we had set our hearts on.
Thankfully, everything was sorted out at the bank, and the payment went through smoothly in the end.
What started as a simple shopping trip became a gentle reminder of how persistence, a little patience, and the kindness of others can turn small obstacles into moments of gratitude.
